A flexible boom holds the mic capsule in place close to the cheek. The boom detaches for easy mounting on either the left or right side of the face, eliminating the need for 'left' or 'right' models.
These headsets are used extensively in broadcast and theatrical applications where low profile wireless miking is a necessity, often under difficult conditions where "sweating out" a mic is a real consideration. A double vent protection system, a drop stopper on the tube, and water resistant materials inside the mic successfully help prevent mic failure.
