The Unthanks at Scala London

The Unthanks appeared at Scala London and their eclectic mix of beautifully arranged vocal harmonies, strings, brass and piano ably transported the audience back through their folk roots including songs like Loreena McKennit's Annachie Gordon.

The sound engineers Joel Borkin (FOH) and Daniel Chester (MONS) had to reinforce the dynamic performance which ranged from Becky and Rachel singing acapella to the full arrangement of piano, drums, string quartet, guitar, brass and multiple vocals. No easy feat, but handled very adeptly. They used DPA d:vote™ 4099 instrument mics on strings, a d:dicate 4011E cardioid pair on the piano, 2011C pair on drumkit OHs and d:facto Vocal mics on both Rachel and Becky Unthank.

If you like folk music, the Unthanks will deliver one of the finest performances around. Check out their website: www.the-unthanks.com
