Product Description

The DPA 4017B-R Shotgun Pencil Microphone with Rycote Kit in the 4017B-R kit utilises a modified 4011 cardioid capsule within an interference tube design offering a low noise super-cardioid polar pattern. Its very light weight (2.4ozs/68gms) makes the 4017B ideal for multi tasking, including ENG, fixed sports applications and of course main boom miking. The Rycote kit included with the 4017B-R adds minimal weight to this setup.

For greater control the 4017B’s preamp is fitted with a 50Hz high pass filter which can be increased to 120Hz accessed via a ring switch on the barrel of the microphone. A second switch gives a 4dB presence boost at 8Khz. In the design particular attention has been paid to ensuring a smooth off-axis response as well as maintaining the usual DPA linear frequency response on-axis. Capable of handling SPLs up to 152dB, immunity to RF emissions and fitted with adjustable filters, the 4017B is a very versatile super-directional broadcast/film microphone, making the 4017B-R kit a powerful addition to your recording arsenal.

4017 preamp options

The 4017 capsule can be interfaced with any of the series pre-amps – The C pre-amp, for example, will reduce the length of the mic, but does not include the filters.
