Product Description

The d:vote™ 4099G Guitar Mic is the result of DPA’s extensive research and development into creating the ultimate guitar microphone for live performance and recordings. The d:vote 4099 contains a highly directional capsule designed for use in hostile stage environments with drums, amplified instruments and monitoring in close proximity. The pick up pattern of the capsule ensures maximum isolation with maximum gain before feedback. Despite it’s acute directional characteristics, the d:vote 4099G produces a very natural sound, both, on and off axis.

The mounting system is designed to securely attach the gooseneck microphone to the guitar by way of a rubber coated clamp which is very simple to fit and re-attach when required. The guitar clamp will fit instruments with a body width between 35 mm (1.4 in) and 122 mm (4.8 in).

The 4099G comes with a DAD4099 XLR adapter which requires 48v phantom power, but the mic can also be used with a wireless microphone system when coupled with the correct DPA adaptor.

I use a DPA d:vote 4099G for live and studio use and I’ve got to say that I’m totally blown away by the clarity of this microphone. The d:vote 4099G replicates the sound of my guitar like no other microphone I’ve ever tried before. Until I found DPA I was constantly frustrated with the sound quality whenever I played live. I was relying on various piezo pickups, preamps and other bits of kit; all adding unwanted bulk and complexity to my live set up. The aesthetics of my performance set up is important to me because I often have to perform in tight spaces or in settings where presentation is important (wedding ceremonies etc). Lugging along a rack full of equipment and a mess of cables just isn’t an option. All I need now is my DPA microphone, guitar and amplifier whenever I perform. It’s so simple and sounds phenomenal.

One of the things I love about the d:vote 4099G is that it doesn’t damage my guitar and it’s quick and easy to install. The gooseneck extender makes it easy to find the sweet spot no matter which guitar I use. I had to modify one of my previous guitars to install an expensive piezo and the sound was nothing compared to the DPA microphone. It’s easy mounting mechanism means I haven’t had to alter my guitar in any way which is a relief.

Using the d:vote 4099G takes all the stress out of setting up my equipment for live performances. The fact that I don’t need to make repeat journeys to my car to pick up rack mounts and various signal processors is a life saver. This is something I’m sure any gigging musician will appreciate! Using the d:vote 4099G means I can relax and enjoy performing instead of worrying about my sound.
