During July 2016 get 10% off the new DPA d:facto™ Linear Vocal microphone. Also known as the DPA d:facto VL, this addition to the heralded d:facto Vocal range was launched at ProLight + Sound 2016 in Germany. It sees the d:facto loaded with a new capsule, namely the 4018VL, which features a totally linear frequency response at a distance of 12cm. The normal d:facto Vocal capsule has a 3dB boost from around 8-12kHz.
Already favoured by artists such as Jess Glynne, Tool and Fun Lovin’ Criminals, the d:facto VL has garnered the interest of a number of touring companies, including Encore PA, whos Director, John Tinline, says the following about the new capsule:
For touring bands, the quality of the loudspeaker enclosures and the microphones are critical. We’ve addressed the speakers by stocking D&B, while for microphones we have chosen DPA. The d:facto™ Vocal Microphone has been part of our hire inventory since it was first released so it made sense to add the new d:facto™ VL capsules to our stock. They take the d:facto™ into completely new territory by solving the problems rock bands were having with crosstalk. Tool is a good example – they love the new capsule and that’s a band that likes to play loud.
Regarding his current tour with Jess Glynne, FOH engineer Alan ‘Big Nobby’ Hopkinson states:
Jess chose the microphone herself. We went through an array of mics to find the one she liked best and she immediately went for the d:facto™, so we bought two. With the new VL capsule we’re finding that it’s a little less excitable and has a very nice smooth, mid/high mid, which is a positive for any vocal mic.
