Sony DWX Digital Wireless Guide

Sony DWX Digital Wireless Family

The Sony DWX Digital Wireless range is a feature rich, professional wireless solution. DWX-N is going strong and Sony has now released its 3rd Generation of digital wireless solutions, DWX Generation 3 (Read about these latest additions) to this powerful range of professional wireless solutions. DWX Digital Wireless combines Sony’s leading know-how in wireless technology, renowned for its stability, with cutting-edge digital audio technology. Designed to offer efficient workflow and bandwidth assignment along with incredible low latency digital audio codecs, the DWX range will exceed your expectations on sound quality and reliability, while its Wireless Studio control platform will revolutionise the workflow of your professional wireless applications.

Sony DWX Digital Wireless System Features

Compatibility

All DWX-N and DWX Gen-3 digital wireless products are cross-compatible and can be used in tandem on the same project or installation.

High Audio Quality

The DWX system produces extremely low self-noise, delivering the highest dynamic range (up to 106dB) and phase stable RF transmission available today. It maintains a linear audio frequency response of 20Hz – 22kHz (+/- 1dB). The Generation 3 micro beltpack is arguably the best sounding digital wireless transmitter solution available today.

Dante® Audio-Over-IP Networking

DWX Generation 3’s dual receiver, the DWR-R03D, is compatible with the Dante digital audio-over-IP networking standard for professional AV and sound reinforcement environments. This allows headphone monitoring with other receivers in the Dante network. Two Dante ports on the back of the receiver support redundant network operation.

Powerful Control Software

The Sony DWX Wireless series works with their digital wireless control suite called Sony Wireless Studio 4.2 or later for PC, and Wireless Studio Mobile for smartphones, to give users flexible control of the system. Everything from RF bandwidth assignment to the full features of up to 82 transmitters can be controlled via the software.

Bandwidth Efficiency like you’ve never seen before

The DWX Digital Wireless system determines a highly efficient use of available bandwidth. Ideal for large-scale productions, the DWR-R03D supports high-density simultaneous multi-channel operation: 375kHz spacing accommodates up to 21 channels per 8MHz TV band or up to 16 simultaneous channels per 6MHz TV band. The DWR-R02D-N can fit up to 16 transmissions in 8MHz (one TV-Channel) simultaneously. Both allow for unlimited upscaling of sequential Channels (limited only by available bandwidth).

Exceptional Battery Performance

The Sony BC-DWX1 battery charger for DWT-B03R and NP-BX1 is equipped with PoE (Power over Ethernet) capabilities for recharging the NP-BX1 3.6V, 1240mAh batteries that the DWX Gen-3’s DWT-B03R transmitter uses. The battery is available to purchase from any camera shop that stocks Sony products. So far, in real-world performance we are receiving reports of 7-8 hours of safe usage on the DWT-B03 Micro-Beltpack transmitters.

The Cheapest Rechargeable Battery on the Market

Cheapest by far! It’s True! You don’t even need to remortgage your home.
