We hooked up with Brighton singer and writer, Josh Bevan and engineer Donal Hodgson at Snap! Studios London to test out the Meris 440 and Ottobit in a live recording situation. Funky Junk brought the Meris Pre’s and expertise while Bevan and keys player Ben Jackson Cook lay down a solid performance of his original song, “Promise”.
Josh’s vocals as well as both the guitar and Rhodes’s amps were miked with DPA d:dicate mics preamped with Meris 440 mic pres. Donal Hodgson (Sting, Duran Duran, Counting Crows, Brand New Heavies, to name but a few) engineered the session. The mix was treated very sparsely to maintain the live feel, quality of the mics/preamps and natural ambience of the studio space at Snap Studios.
