DPA 2015 Compact Wide Cardioid Microphone

Introducing the 2015 Compact Wide Cardioid microphone from DPA – the perfect choice for capturing a balanced sound for instrument groups like drum kits. With its wide cardioid design and signature, DPA flat off-axis response, this microphone is an excellent solution for complex and challenging live situations.

Constructed with a thicker, more robust body and a protective black chrome finish, the 2015 is built to withstand rough handling. High gain-before-feedback and natural off-axis sound make the 2015 a superb option.

Product Description

When it comes to capturing a balanced sound for a group of instruments like a drum kit, a pair of 2015 Compact Wide Cardioids can be an excellent choice, especially when a conventional cardioid pattern doesn’t quite cut it. These microphones have a wide cardioid design that covers a greater sound angle and works well for instrument groups with complex radiation patterns.

Constructed to withstand rough handling on a hectic live stage, the 2015 features a thicker, more robust body construction of brass that is highly durable and resistant to corrosion and metal fatigue. The mic handle and grille are treated with a protective black chrome finish that ensures graceful aging.

The 2015’s wide cardioid capsule boasts DPA’s famously flat off-axis response, making it easier for sound engineers to handle bleed from other instruments at close proximity. The microphone picks up off-axis sounds in a natural and attenuated way, resulting in a high gain-before-feedback.

Positioning the 2015 near the drum kit, closer than you would normally place overhead microphones, can result in a stronger signal from the drum kit and less bleed from the stage.
